Amul Milk

In early February 2025, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the 'Amul' brand, announced a significant investment of ₹600 crore to establish an integrated dairy facility in Kolkata, West Bengal. This state-of-the-art plant is set to feature the world's largest curd (dahi) manufacturing unit, boasting a production capacity of 10 lakh kilograms per day. The overall milk processing capacity of the facility will be 15 lakh litres per day, aiming to cater to the substantial demand for curd in Kolkata and its surrounding regions.

In late January 2025, Amul reduced the prices of its one-litre milk packs by ₹1 across India. This move was designed to encourage consumers to purchase larger quantities, offering them better value. For instance, in Delhi, the price of Amul Gold milk decreased from ₹68 to ₹67 per litre, while Amul Taaza's price dropped from ₹56 to ₹55 per litre.

Looking ahead, GCMMF anticipates a double-digit revenue growth for the fiscal year 2024-25, driven by strong demand across all product categories, including fresh milk, cheese, and ice cream. In the previous fiscal year, the federation reported an 8% increase in turnover, reaching ₹59,445 crore. On average, GCMMF handled 310 lakh litres of milk daily during that period and possesses an annual milk processing capacity of approximately 500 lakh litres.
